Two Things...

First...
I went home this weekend to visit with my brother, Rich (i'll be nice, but i still call him Richie). I haven't seen him in over 3 years. It was so good to see his face. I missed him and it was just good to see him again.
Second...
Elijah turned 5!! I can't believe how fast he is growing up! He is such a fun and smart little boy. He too, was very excited to see his daddy...because he definitely kept telling me about it.

SCHOOL!!!

I started school, again, last week, but tonight was my official in-the-classroom-class!! I had two actually. My anatomy and physiology lab and lecture. I LOVED it!! I love being back in school. The whole time (which was FIVE hours) i had a huge grin on my face!! I'm sure as we really get into the swing of things, that grin will start to fade, but right now it just feels so good!! yay!!!!

Oh my goodness, how i miss these lovely ladies!!! I couldn't stop laughing as i made this little picture, because it reminded me of how much fun we had and how much we laughed!! Jamie, Carrie, Neiva and Kelly have been such blessings in my life and i am pretty sure they always will be!! I mean seriously, who else could rock these afros like this?? the Jackson 5...i think not.

Grandma Patricia Clara Delaney

I was able to come home, on emergency leave, early sunday morning. I am so thankful that i was and was able to spend a couple of hours with Grandma. Grandma passed away monday morning, Dec 15th around 11am. She's been sick with Alzeimers and Dimentia for about 3 years now. It's been tough seeing her like that and now she is resting in a much better place, praise to God. I will miss her very very much and it is so sad to see grandpa missing her too. They were married for SIXTY years, this year, and that is amazing and special. Thank you everyone, for your prayers and encouraging words.

Thanksgiving at the Beach!

The family rolled in to Pensacola and Elijah immediately let everyone know that only thing he needed to do was see the beach. How could you argue with that?? It turned out to be a lovely day here, about 71 degrees, so i agreed to take him out there. Mom was exhausted from the drive down, so she opted to stay back. So we went and boy am i thankful i decided to bring a towel and a change of clothes for him! He says "krissi, can i pllllease put my feet in??". i said "sure, it's nice out, but the water will still be cold!"
So, he goes to put his feet in and JUMPS totally in the water!! what was i to do?? i just let him enjoy it. I asked "elijah is that water cold??" He replies "oh yes, but i LIKE IT!!" haha..it was a good time and i am glad we got to spend the time together!

Christmas Tree!

Today, i put up the Christmas tree! Fa la la la la la la! It means Christmas is almost here. The sad part is, I have dumb duty on Christmas day. But what would my life in the Navy be, without duty on a GREAT holiday?! It'll be ok, I will find a way to celebrate the day.

So, when i moved to pensacola, i decided it was time to act like a woman! haha, ok, really it wasn't that bad, but after 3 years on a ship you start to feel a little less girly. I went to the salon, where i had a man, travis, cut my hair. This was my first experience of this. He kept asking me lots of questions and i started to feel pretty ridiculous. I admited that i didn't own a brush nor did i use much of any hair product. He proceeded to tell me he was gay and more of a woman than me. I wasn't quite sure how to take that, but let him style away. He cut psuedo bangs. I didn't see much of a change. Well, i found a GREAT salon where they give you a glass of wine and do head massages and its' not expensive. I needed them to find my real hair color...not that i go crazy dying my hair, but i was done doing highlights. So, she colored my hair and talked me into more of a bang....i'm not sure how i feel and it's taking some getting used to. But, just thought i'd share.

My Twin!

My twin, from another mother, came to visit me over Columbus day weekend. Her name's Michelle. She's pretty. We haven't seen each other for about 3 years adn it was so wonderful and a big blessing to play and catch up! we discovered all the wonderful things about Pensacola, especially Bob Seger. Really, he's a good singer, hehe. We went to a dueling piano bar, where they don't duel and the locals don't seem to like to sing, but we danced and sang the night away. No, old friends in new places are still great. It's wondeful to have such people in your life, where even though you may not see one another for long periods of time, that when you do, you can just pick right up where you left off. Fabulous. And she gave me pin curls!

Well, I've been in Pensacola for just over a week now. It's great! I love Florida and am pretty sure I could stay here forever! This part of FL is way different then the rest, some call it southern alabama and my fave is the redneck riviera!! It's so laid back here and people are just nice. I loved jax, tampa, ft lauderdale, orlando and miami, but this is a whole new florida experience!
So, I've made some progress on the abode as well. It's fun and definitely a learning process for me. Who knew that when a builder applies wallpaper directly to the drywall and then owner rips off ugly wallpaper...the dry wall top comes off with it. geez...so now i have to spackle, sand and then finish the walls...YES!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and I GET to buy my very own lawn mower!!! haha!! oh i feel so grown up, it's ridiculous (although today, a lady told me there is noway i could be close to 30...she was sure i was only like 21..that was nice!).

611 High Street

I'm sitting here in my empty apartment. 611 is no longer my dwelling. it's definitely bittersweet, because i LOVE this apartment. it has so much personality and is just great. BUT, having your own home, must be better. i can't wait to live there too.
This is the front door to my building. i like the downtown feel, in such a teensy downtown. It's called Old Towne Portsmouth. I really like it..sigh..

So, it seems the suburbs of pensacola are calling my name, but it's gonna be good! With that said, i say good-bye VA and this chapter of my life.

Well, i am fast approaching the day. the day i will no longer call virgina home. i mean, i guess the only things about this that cause me to be sad are my friends and virginia is for lovers, after all. I am ready to move on. my new house is say "kristi, come live in me" and that makes me smile. I am tired of going through the massive amounts of , yes, crap that one accumulates over the years and about 80% of it you really don't want or need. I have donated about 5, yes 5, 30 gallone trash bags full of clothes to the goodwill and sold 2 to plato's closet. can we say pack rat? or is that just sad? so yes, in the next few days i will load my car and start the next chapter in my life..woohoo! and the movers come tomorrow!!

OH! and this is why i will miss the VELLA GULF! the silliness! trying to find something fun in the not so fun. just making others laugh! this is kenny! kenny is super cool because his birthday is sept 2 too! only he's about 9 years younger than me, but that's ok. anyways, i'm assuming this was taken during sea an anchor as the ship was either enter or leaving cypress. they are on deployment right now, so remember to keep them in your prayers!

Yep, yesterday was my birthday. I turned 29, yikes! I officially have less than 365 days until i turn the big 3-0! But, i am super exicted about this! I am going to live it up and enjoy the last days of my twenties and when 30 comes, i will be ready and willing! haha.., no really 30 is going to be a GREAT birthday!! I have goals..yes...many will not be reached before i enter the next decade, but hey...i'm a grown up, i bought a house!

"Ding! Ding! Hospital Corpsman Second Class Surface Warfare Kristilynn DeJager departing" that is what i heard and this is what i saw as i was bonged off the ship today! it was definitely bittersweet. I have been ready to move on for a couple of months now, but i will miss so many things. I saw many places and met so many people, from all over the world! It was amazing. I learned much too. The boat leaves tomorrow for a seven month deployment and i wish them all well. I pray that they stay out of harms way and make it back to the arms of their loved ones. Farewell Vella Gulf!!

Well, i am sitting here, on the ship (it's a duty day) watching rhythmic gymnastics and cleaning out my files on the computer. Just 5 days left on the ship!! Anyways, i was going through the pictures i have hidden away on here and i found the picture of the super sexy shoes!! My dear friend, Kelly and I went shopping for shoes, for Carrie's wedding. i am sure Carrie is super happy we did NOT pick these, even with all their glam.

Well, mom and i just recently took a little trip down to Pensacola, where i will shortly be calling home. We looked at what felt like 23478923848 houses! Finally i found one that i like..well i really like it a lot! i am so excited to move in and actually live there! first homes are so exciting, it's like growing up and truely being independent! hehe.

Alexandra McCray was born 15 Aug to Meredith and James! She's so beautiful! She has cute chubby cheeks and beautiful red hair! Please keep her in your prayers as she has a few hills to climb in the near future. She's arleady had a catheter placed in her heart to open a valve and it was successful! Pray that this is all she needs, but that the doctors make the right decisions to keep her healthy and strong!

So, after 3 years on the ship, i finally got an award. It's bittersweet, i suppose. But i got a NAM (Navy Acheivement Medal) for my participation in our MRI (medical readiness inspection). So, yep, there I am with CAPT Genung, the Commanding Officer of the VELLA GULF.

MUD RUN

an 8k course designed by the seal teams, over at little creek. it's the worst, most fun run i've ever done! It's 5 miles on the beach, in the creek, mud pits, through the woods and about 3 of the miles are ran on loose sand!! when you're done it feels so good!! this was my second year and i had a blast!
